a triple digit heat wave grabs hold of maryland and power outages has people fending off the head on their own. >> i hope you're staying cool, i'm adam may. tormenting temperatures. ash deadly heat wave continues to torch maryland. a lot of people are kept inside. we found those daring to venture out. tonight, wjz-13 is live with complete coverage of the severe sizzler. let's start with bernadette woods. we just tied another record, didn't we? >> and they're the records that people don't want to break. we have a heat warning in effect into 8:00 tonight. also, tomorrow, just as hot in some places. maybe not as high of humidity. it will be another scorcher. today, we got up to 102.

that's the new record. it tied the old record on the date. 101 outside right now. look at the triple digits at this time. the dew points are incredibly time. still feels like 160 degrees in baltimore and 107 in d.c. and even down in ocean city, 105- degree. garrett county looks like the place to make hellgren is live outside in the pressure cooker again. mike? >> reporter: well, the big story now is power outages. there are more than 11,000 people without power. a big chunk are in baltimore city. 5400 also, in the pikesville area. it's not a day you want to be without air-conditioning. >> reporter: another day of heat and frustration. particularly among gbe customers in the peak rewards

the holding was going to blow up. we ran this way and they ran that way. >> reporter: they had nonflammable hazardous materials. they're trying to figure out the cause. a water main break sends water gushing into a road last night. the break happened in the 8200 block of wilson avenue. check out this amazing video that a viewer sent us. the water spring over the area. the water break left 30 homes without water. baltimore county is fixing the damaged road. still, no debt deal. this is one day after they walked out of a meeting with a president. tonight, here's the big hang up. it's taxes for the wealthy. >> reporter: president obama called congressional leaders for an emergency meeting.

the talks lasted less than an hour and didn't produce a solution. both sides are committed to working on a bipartisan proposal to save the u.s. from the first government default in history. president obama used the weekly radio address to urge lawmakers to put differences aside quickly. >> we can leave for our children a more secure future. or, we can issue insults and ultimatums to each other and achieve nothing. >> reporter: a week of negotiations ended dramatically when john boehner broke off private talks with the president in a dispute with taxes. they were making talks about medicare and medicaid. john boehner said that the original agreement was for $8 billion in revenues. the white house moved the goal post.

he told his party saturday afternoon that leaders should have a deficit plan to present the parties in the next 24 houses. the talks will have to continue behind closed doors for the weekend, with ten days left with the august 2nd dead line. and of course, we're keeping a close eye on this. speaker john boehner wants a deal before wednesday at 4:00. remembering 9/11 heros. one artist drew each firefighter killed in the attacks. tonight, here's a look. >> reporter: 343 portraits, all firefighters, killed in the line of duty. >> they were the only ones that were related i knew when i started. i tried to keep them together. >> reporter: she painted every

we're still talking 102 degrees. we've tracked a few thunderstorms from earlier, we have a few more now. we'll take you in on those. they vice president moved much. there's not a lot of wind out there to push them along. they continue to fire. we could see a few thunderstorms into the evening hours. the other big thing is the heat. it continues to sizzle. and the thing is, temperaturewise, we're back up there again today. we've topped out at 102-degree. that ties the record on the date. not quite again the record of 106 from yesterday. still, hot and muggy. the thing is that the heat will continue. as far as the forecast goes, the dew points are going to remain up and so are the temperatures into tomorrow. a new front comes our way. we have a chance for a shower and possible thunderstorm. there we'll see a better chance tomorrow than today. then, into the next few days, we'll have a better chance.

monday, we'll have another front. monday, the front, we're trying to work with the machine. that's the one that will bring us some actual relief as we head into the middle part of the week. we'll show you, these are the fronts we're tracking first one for tomorrow. this one, back in here is going to bring a little bit of a relieve from the heat we've had. we're going to be in the upper its tomorrow for the high. about 98 degrees. then, as the front comes through monday, it will knock us down. tuesday and wednesday are the break days. we'll be close to 90 degrees. it will be warm, but not that intense. then, as we head into the second part of the week, the heat will build. the highs will be into the upper 90s towards friday and into next weekend. we'll have a little bit of a break and as we head into the
